Casa del Carrubo

A villa with a private pool and garden in Villagrazia di Carini, twenty minutes from Palermo.

  • Sleeps 12
  • 6 bedrooms
  • 5 bathrooms
  • Private pool
The house

A house and its garden, all to yourselves

Casa del Carrubo is a Sicilian family villa that hosts one group at a time. There are no other apartments and no neighbours across the landing: the house, the garden, the pool and the portico are yours for the whole stay.

The private grounds are full of lush Mediterranean planting, with palms, olive trees and the great carob that gives the house its name. Next to the lawn and the sun deck there is the pool, and a few steps away an outdoor shower with a changing room. The wide portico is made for playing and lounging even when the sun is fierce — or when it rains.

It is an ideal base for exploring western Sicily: the airport is three kilometres away, the train station a ten-minute walk, the sea one kilometre. The hard part, guests say, is finding the courage to leave.

The spaces

The spaces

Six bedrooms, five bathrooms and a garden that wraps around the whole house.

The garden and the pool

Fully fenced private grounds with lawn, sun deck and an outdoor pool for your exclusive use. An outdoor shower with changing room sits by the lawn, and a ping-pong table waits in the shade.

The portico

Wide, shaded, furnished with outdoor sofas and armchairs. It works as a second living room: card games, reading, dinner even when the weather turns.

Six bedrooms

Spacious rooms, carefully furnished, most with an en-suite bathroom and many with a balcony. Each one has air conditioning or a fan.

Five bathrooms

Five full bathrooms with shower, bidet and hot water. For a party of twelve, that is the difference between a holiday and a queue.

The indoor kitchen

Fully equipped: oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and coffee machine. Complete cookware, plates, glasses and utensils, plus the washing machine. Anyone who wants to cook here will find everything.

A chef on request

On request we arrange a chef who comes and cooks in the house: a Sicilian dinner on the portico, or lunch at the long table under the carob, with nobody having to go anywhere. Just ask a few days ahead.

Location

Where we are

Villagrazia di Carini, behind the gulf, between the airport and Palermo.

The villa sits on a private road in Villagrazia di Carini, a short walk from a well-stocked supermarket and from several pizzerias, restaurants and bars. The sea and the airport are minutes away by car; the train station, a ten-minute walk, connects directly to Palermo and to the airport. Many guests manage perfectly well without a car — but to reach the most beautiful and least accessible corners of Sicily, we suggest renting one.

Distances

  • 3 km Palermo Falcone-Borsellino Airport
  • 1 km Sea and beaches of the Gulf of Carini
  • 10 min Train station, on foot
  • 2 min Supermarket, bars and pizzerias, on foot
  • 20 km Palermo historic centre

The exact location and directions are shared once the booking is confirmed.

The old town, the Rocca and the beach: roughly an hour’s drive east.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many people can the villa host?

Up to 12 guests across 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. It suits large families and groups of friends.

Is the pool private?

Yes. The pool, the garden and all outdoor spaces are for the exclusive use of the villa’s guests: they are not shared with anyone else.

Can we get there without a car?

Yes. The train station is a ten-minute walk and connects the airport and Palermo; supermarket, bars and restaurants are two minutes away on foot. To visit the less accessible parts of western Sicily, though, we recommend renting a car.

How far is the sea?

The beaches of the Gulf of Carini are about one kilometre away, a few minutes by car. Some guests even walk there.

How far is Palermo airport?

Falcone-Borsellino airport at Punta Raisi is about 3 km away, which is why the villa works well both as a base for the whole holiday and for the first and last night.

How do we book?

Check the dates on the calendar on this site and write to us through the form, saying when you would like to come and how many you are. We reply with a quote and how to confirm, normally within 24 hours.

Can we have a chef?

Yes. On request we arrange a chef who comes and cooks in the house, from dinner for the whole group to lunch under the carob tree. Ask a few days ahead so we can agree the menu. The cost is separate and we tell you beforehand.

What is included and what should we bring?

Bed linen, towels and household linen are included, and the kitchen is fully equipped. We do not provide toiletries such as shampoo and shower gel, and there is no tumble dryer in the house: bring them if you need them.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes, €500 in cash on arrival, returned in full on departure after the house has been checked.

Are pets allowed?

No, pets are not allowed.

Is there air conditioning and Wi-Fi?

Yes. Every bedroom has air conditioning or a fan, and free Wi-Fi covers the house, with a dedicated workspace.

What is the minimum stay?

Three nights. We do not take shorter bookings: the house is large and between one departure and the next arrival it needs time to be put back in order properly. The maximum is 30 nights.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 3:00 pm, check-out by 10:00 am. If your flight times are awkward, write to us: when the house is free we always try to accommodate.

Who welcomes us on arrival?

The owners greet guests in person and stay reachable throughout the stay.
